high-quality, locally responsive and cost-effective services to foster equitable educational opportunities and help achieve
Oregons educational goals.
The mission of Education Service Districts is based on the premise that cooperation is not only possible but desirable, and that one agency can provide services to several other agencies in a cost effective, competent manner so as to minimize duplication.
This ESD serves as the administrative agent for more than 40 state and federal projects throughout Marion, Polk, and Yamhill counties. The resources are carefully applied to the benefit of school districts, statewide programs, and in substantial quantity, other service districts in the area. Special education programs, cooperative purchasing, audio-visual services, testing, migrant education, and administrative work could be accomplished in all local school districts, but where economy of scale makes for efficient or better quality the Education Service District provides the means.
